Traveling as a family can be as affordable or as luxurious as you make it. Our trips usually lean towards being both family and wallet friendly. I've touched on a few ways to make travel more affordable mainly, selling gently used items from your closet on sites like Poshmark but there are lots of ways to save those coins and roll them into a travel fund. Read on to get the deets.
1. Open a vacation savings account and set up automatic deposits to make saving money effortless.
2. Cut back on eating out at restaurants, drinking Starbucks or socializing on the weekends. Just doing these 3 things can save you a ton!
3. Cancel your cable and stream online for less, we haven't paid a cable bill since 2008!
4. Use your car to make extra cash with Uber or Lift. Sign up for focus groups and earn extra money for your opinion.
5. Make your credit cards work for you, use points for cash or sky miles with airline carriers.

6. Join a less expensive gym or workout from home.
7. Share the cost of travel with friends, split the hotel fees and share a room.
8. Book your housing accommodations at at Airbnb instead of a more expensive hotel.
9. Stretch your dollars by booking your trip on sites like Groupon or Livingsocial.
10. Change your lifestyle, nix your clothing shopping habit and save those coins for your trip around the world.
11. Trade in that expensive 'foreign' vehicle for a less expensive car that can be paid off in cash or just as fast.
12. Become financially responsible, you need to learn how to manage your money so that a large percentage of your take home pay can go towards things you want like travel and not debt. Track your spending on an app like Mint and budget ruthlessly.

13. Cook most of your meals at home, your wallet and your body's health will thank you.
14. Reduce your utilities, they often cost a grip during winter and summer so turn off the AC and use the free air at your local bookstore or turn down the heat and put on a sweater.
15. Negotiate a higher wage or more vacation days at your job during your next review.
16. Start a blog and earn money online, monetize your site, + get paid for freelancing.
17. Cut back on the luxuries like hair done, nails done, everything did.
18. Borrow books from the library instead of buying them retail.
19. Clean your account every month, after you've paid all your bills anything that is disposable can go towards your travel fund.
20. Keep your distance from financially irresponsible people. Hang out with people of like mind and you will get further in your pursuit of traveling the world.
