5 Creative Ways to Capture your Travel Memories | Motherhood Unplugged

Capturing your travel memories is always a great thing to do but sometimes it requires you to live 'outside' the moment and behind the lens. In some cases, you can ask a complete stranger to take your picture like we did here in the one above of us in Mexico or you can choose to set up your camera on a tripod, ledge or whatever you have available like a suitcase. Looking back on your past travel escapes will surely bring you a laugh, smile and quite possibly a tear or two. Hey, us moms can be a bit sentimental can't we?

Recently, I've been reminiscing about some of the trips my husband and I took before we had the kiddos. You know the ones that were uber relaxing and seemingly stress free. lol Traveling with children is quite fun but let's not kid ourselves and say that it goes without tantrums and stress because it surely does not, just keeping it real here. While reminiscing, I came across an old photo album that I started to keep our travel 'artifacts' in namely old wristbands from hotels, plane ticket stubs and even tickets from excursions. I keep magnets on the fridge as a daily trip down memory lane but I had totally forgotten about that album stashed away in the basement. So I started looking around the net aka Pinterest for a few more creative ways that we could capture, save and even display our travel memories.

1. Start a travel blog

I started this blog with the hopes of sharing our passion for traveling with kids in tow as well as inspiring parents to do the same.

2. Keep a travel journal

I personally don't do this but do give the kids a blank notepad to journal while we are on vacation. It's a good practice for them to use their handwriting skills and a chance to draw a picture relating to their trip.

3. Make a memory box

I purchased a brightly colored storage box from the Dollar Tree to store some travel memories from the boys adventures. I don't consider myself a hoarder and certainly don't save every single thing but I'd like to think they would love seeing things like their old passports from when they were babies.

4. Buy the same type of souvenir wherever you go I used to collect magnets from all of our travels because they were small and inexpensive; however now I like to take lots of pictures and video footage because we print a special one on canvas to display on the wall as well as create a Youtube video to share with family, friends + viewers like you :)

5. Print out your photos

As mentioned previously, I like to print out our photos on canvas because I love how they turn out but you can even print out your Instagram photos on magnets, how cool is that!

Whatever you choose, it is the memory that counts. Some people don't want to capture anything and just live life fully in the moment aka #unplugged and that's OK too!

How does your family choose to capture your travel memories? Please share.

Happy Travels
