I'm a black mermaid, from the bottom of the sea, I'm gonna teach you how to love me...…. Esthero
After my snorkeling experience in Belize I told my travel buddy that I officially wanted to become dive certified. We toured with two other couples who were certified and asked them questions about the process and overall experience. I've been interested in diving for awhile but never took the opportunity while on vacation with the family for a couple reasons: one being the children are too young to dive and second being my husband is not really interested in diving himself. We explored open water in St. Lucia while staying at a Sandals resort and he got kind of shocked aka scared after being spooked by a fellow diver thinking it was a shark. lol I guess it safe to say he's done with open water for now. However, I'm so excited that my friend actually wants to be certified too so not only does she love traveling she also likes the thrill of swimming in open water!

I just signed up for my 'Try Scuba!' class with Dive Marietta here in Georgia. I was told by a fellow Delta passenger, on the way back home, that he was trained through this school many years ago and they were a terrific place to get started. Now a days, travelers like myself make their trip decisions at a click of a button. I often read reviews on sites like Trip Advisor, articles on Buzzfeed or research on Instagram for picturesque travel destinations. Advice from a person who has traveled near and far + has the same type of traveling personality is very influential.
Real time and user generated technology has changed the way travelers plan their trips, become inspired and research prior to booking. I recently learned about the #BeachesMoms Social Media on the Sand conference in Turks & Caicos. I have yet to travel to Turks but I hear it is simply amazing + how great would it be to network, socialize and learn from other moms in the traveling niche while enjoying the ocean view. Savvy travelers are leveraging social media in growing numbers to make decisions on where to travel, where to stay, where to eat and what to do. Influencers with an authentic delivery are the ones I tend to listen to the most. As a mom of two very active boys I usually seek out family friendly resorts located in safely established communities with lots of activities for myself, the hubs and the children. My husband and I chose Sandals resorts for our destination wedding in St. Lucia specifically because of the attention to detail in their Martha Stewart wedding packages and we were not disappointed. I'd love to vacation at a Beaches resort with my children so they can experience the 'beaches lifestyle.' They have land sports ,water sports, Sesame street and even scuba for me! I've definitely been making some headway on my blogging journey and would love to be picked to attend this amazing conference. Fingers + toes crossed.
Have you ever been to a Beaches resort? What's it like? Please share all the deets!
