This week my oldest will be on Fall Break and with two active boys at home we definitely have to spend a lot of time outdoors. I've put together a list of things we will do that will keep them busy, active and fun but most of all won't break the bank! Afterall, cooking Thanksgiving dinner cost $$$, no need to splurge on anything else.
1. Playground
Since the weather will be clear socializing at our local park is perfect. We are bound to run into school playmates and meet a few new friends too.
2. Dollar Tree Crafts
I love stopping by our neighborhood Dollar Tree for crafts, they are inexpensive and usually carry some cute ones. Last year the boys loved the gingerbread man craft as well as the felt Christmas trees.
3. Nature Trails
If you follow us on Instagram, you'll know that we love nature. Taking a trek on a nature trail, especially a new one to discover, is the perfect thing to keep little ones busy. You can also collect some nature materials to make a fun turkey craft with colorful leaves.
4. Library
Our local library usually hosts toddler social activities during the mornings. They also have computers loaded with fun games for kids. Our weekly library visits are usually for play and to restock on a new set of books to read.
5. Museums
Museums are a great place to take the kids. We often visit the Southern Train Museum for Mommy and Me but since that falls on Thanksgiving Day we may check out another like the Tellus Science Museum.
6. Baking
My oldest asked to make a pumpkin pie because I let them take apart the Halloween pumpkins to discover what's inside. I prefer baking Apple pies and involving the kids with the baking may make them more likely to eat it lol Who else can relate to picky eaters?
7. Restaurants
Going out to eat is a treat for my kids and they love Chick fil a! Taking them to eat at a restaurant where they are free to play afterwards is always fun especially if the weather is cold or rainy.
If you are staying in your city for the holiday what are you planning to keep your little ones' busy? Please share, we may want to do some of those things too!
