After the holidays my kitchen usually needs a good deep cleaning from all the work it's put in cooking up that holiday feast. Since we did not travel this year, the new year is a great time to tackle the oven and clean out that Thanksgiving + Christmas grime. My entire family recently tackled the main living area, bathrooms and basement with Method + Myers Home cleaning products. Check it out on Insta to see what we used! Once we got all those areas handled my oven needed a scrub down and honestly it's just not my favorite thing to clean in the house. Today I'm sharing a pleasant nature hack for cleaning that not so pleasant oven grime. If you don't want to use those harsh chemical sprays that singe off you eyebrows and leave you half blind give this natural cleaning solution a try.
Here's what you'll need:
Baking soda
White Vinegar
Water
Optional lemon/orange oil
Spray bottle
Sponge, washcloth or steel scouring pad
Optional gloves
*For those who want to go the extra mile you can create an essential oil spray with orange peels, lemon peels, water and fresh rosemary in a mason jar. Let it soak for 5 days then use to scent your oven while you clean. The spray can also be used on your countertops, refrigerator and bathrooms as well.*

As you can see all of the ingredients are natural and the best thing is you probably already have these in your pantry and if not you can grab them all at your local Walmart or online at Amazon. I love cleaning with natural products in my home especially since I have children. In the past, I have used the harsh oven cleaner chemicals and they are strong enough to knock out a horse let alone a human. While those chemicals might seem to work faster the headache and fumes just aren't worth it to me.
Here's how it works:
1. Empty our your oven racks
2. Mix your baking soda paste
1/2 cup of baking soda with a few tablespoons of water to make a thick paste
3. Coat all of the dirty areas
4. Let the mixture sit overnight or for 10-12 hours
5. Meanwhile clean your oven racks, I like to use the steel pads for this and a bit of elbow grease.
6. After the 12 hours are up spray your oven with the vinegar which should foam up in a reaction to the baking soda. Scrub with scouring pad and wipe with damp cloth.
7. Wipe clean and use steel pads or a butter knife to scrape off any hard to remove debris. Spray your scented cleanser as the final step and wipe clean or simply squeeze and wipe fresh lemon all over then wipe clean.
8. Replace the racks and you're done! Your oven will shine and sparkle plus smell oh so good!

If you try this method let me know how it turned out! #motherhoodunplghacks
