This year I started out with a #getinthebestshape of my life physically challenge. I've been trying to incorporate less processed foods and more real foods into my diet everyday. I have transitioned from being a 'meat' eater to pescatarian and then vegetarian. Sometimes I do have raw vegan meals but those are usually in the form of a smoothie.
Lately, I have replaced one to two of my meals with a protein smoothie consisting of fresh fruits, vegetables and powdered peanut butter from PB2. It has 85% LESS fat and although peanut butter is considered a healthy fat I tend to over indulge in it. Along with drinking lots more water I believe this plus exercise and being consistent has helped me shed some unwanted abdominal fat in just the first two weeks of my challenge.
I am not a fitness guru or absolute by the book eater when in comes to diet. I am human just like the rest of us and crave sweet treats like brownies, ice cream and candy. I've learned that allowing yourself some grace when it comes to treats is the only way to balance out this journey towards my goal body. It's hard especially when I live in a household where I'm the only one on a strict clean diet. I am the only woman in my house and most may attest that weight gain in men and women is just unfair and unbalanced. I'm trying my hardest not to fall too far off the wagon especially when the weekend rolls around and we may eat out more but I'm sticking to my commitment to myself and making a permanent change.
After looking back through pictures of myself for the #howharddidaginghityou challenge I surely don't want to be wishing I had lost those extra 10 lbs for the next ten years. 10 years ago I was not eating super healthy or exercising regularly. Today I'm actually proud that I am much more aware of my body's needs, eating a healthier diet and hitting the gym. I hope that if you are on a healthy living challenge you too are making some leeway towards your goal.
