ME, MYSELF AND I DEMO

CONGRATS! You've signed up to teach and now you need to practice for your demo. Well don't fret because I am here to help. This demo is all about feelings. Feelings are super easy to teach. This demo only teaches happy and sad, that's it. Sounds simple right, that's because it is. All you will need are some happy and sad props, simple smiley faces will do. I also have a list of FREE and inexpensive printable props you can use here, here and here.

To start your lesson introduce yourself to the student.

Hi! My name is Teacher xyz, what is your name?

Cup ear to listen for response.

Hi Bao Bao, it is nice to meet you!

Are you ready?

Yes, let's go!

Bao Bao, when you do a good job you will get a soccer ball!

Demonstrate how to drag n drop ball to the net.

Draw a line from ball to net.

Ask student to do one.

Celebrate after it is done by clapping, saying yay etc. then move on.

I-vocabulary slides must be repeated twice.

Circle the word sad.

Say sad do sad TPR with face and crying hands and cup ear to listen for the child to respond.

Child responds.

repeat again (say sad and listen for response.)

Say good job or give a thumbs up!

Give a reward.

Next, teach the sentence the same way.

He is sad. Use TPR to show a sad face, show your sad prop. Cup ear to listen for student's response.

Teach twice. Give a reward and move on to the next slide.

He is sad.

Do TPR.

Who is sad? Ask if it's he or she, use he or she props to show he is a boy and she is a girl. Dolls or printable props work great here.

Ask student to circle the right answer by doing TPR with a circling motion or using your whiteboard to circle a boy or girl.

Wait for response and move on after giving a reward.

She is.... (happy or sad)

Who is sad? She or He, use props to show she is a girl.

Is she happy or sad? Show props with happy and sad faces. Ponder and wait for response.

Demonstrate circling the right answer with TPR, ask student to circle the word sad.

Wait for response.

Give another reward.

Blending slide

You can use sticky notes, plastic lego blocks, your fists or a white board to show that when you put two sounds together they make a new sound.

Sound out each letter.

I + G = IG

Cup ear and listen for student to repeat.

Da + IG = Dig

Wa + IG = Wig

Ma + IG = Mig

Cup ear after each word to listen for response.

Celebrate with another reward.

Goodbye slide

Count out your rewards, there should be five rewards given.

Tell them they did a great job and say goodbye. This should be nearing the 10 minute mark, do not go over ten minutes.

Remember, no incidental language.

SMILE

Encourage (good job!) (yay!)

Practice makes perfect!

You'll do great and if you have any further questions, I'm just a click away.

Happy Teaching!
