Tip. Do your lesson prep. Read over the lesson objectives. This lesson's objectives are:


Vocabulary: Feelings, Feel, Happy, Sad, Angry


Sentence Pattern:


Teacher: How do you feel?

Student: I feel happy. I feel sad. I feel angry.


Phonics: _eg


Suggested props: Emoji's or printed faces with happy, sad and angry emotions.

MY FEELINGS LESSON WALK THROUGH


Intro slide: Hello, my name is Teacher Rene! What is your name? Cup ear.

Hello (student says name) Teacher waves

How old are you? Student responds. (5)

Teacher corrects. I am 5 years old. Cup ear to hear correction.

Read the title of the lesson "My Feelings"

Ask the student, "Are you ready?" Student responds. Teacher says, "Good let's go!"


Reward slide:

Teacher says, 'When you do a good job, you get (xyz).' Have your reward system in place behind you so they can see it. Be sure to give out 5 rewards averaging 1 every other slide.


Slide 3. Use lots of TPR (Total Physical Response) to act out each emotion.

Underline 'When I feel sad, I feel like crying.' Act it out crying. Cup ear for student to repeat.

'When I feel angry, I look this way.' Act out angry. Cup ear for student to repeat. 'When I feel happy, I smile all day.' Act out smiling. Cup ear for student to repeat.


**Teacher gives praise with 1 reward.**


Slide 4. Big M (mmmm sound) Small m (mmmm sound)

Mouth (m sound, repeat word) Circle mouth

Elephant (m sound, say elephant) ask student if Elephant starts with the m sound?

Monkey (m sound, say monkey) ask student if Monkey starts with the m sound?

Slide 5. Blending. Use proper synthetic phonics to blend the words. Pretend the student repeats.


Slide 6. Underline red words, practice and repeat the red words then probe for comprehension.

Underline feelings, say feelings, underline sad, say sad, underline happy, say happy, underline angry, say angry. I have many feelings. Cup ear after each to have the student repeat.

**** It is important to pretend that your student makes mistakes so that you can correct them.***



Slide 7. Use a prop, perhaps a puppet or doll. Use what you have don't feel like you have to buy anything for day 1 borrow something.


Teacher asks, 'How do you feel?' Cup ear to have student repeat? Student should respond with I feel happy etc.

Slide 8. Shoot the ball activity.

You can use TPR to mimic shooting the ball as the student reads and shoots the ball on screen. Direct the student to draw a line from the emotion to the correct word.

Slide 9. Goodbye slide.

Thank the student, tell them what they did great, wave and say goodbye. Let them know that you hope to see them soon. SMILE


Remember to use TPR and no incidental language, just keep it simple.
