There are only 4 basic requirements that you need to meet before you can pass the first phase of the interview process. Read below to see if you satisfy all four requirements.

1. Current resident of the USA or Canada

The company wants to hire native English speakers and this is the reason they are seeking residents in these two countries. You don't have to actually be based there, you can teach from anywhere in the globe but they want to know you are a native English speaker.

2. Bachelor's degree. The minimum educational requirement is a Bachelor's degree. I also recommend that you get an ESL or TEFL certificate. You get a great deal on one at groupon.com VIPKID now requires you to have a certificate before you get certified to teach any level so this is just being ahead of the curve. It will come in handy too when you are actually in the classroom.

3. Teaching Experience. You need formal (teaching certificate/brick and mortar classroom setting) OR informal experience in the form of tutoring, counseling, or homeschooling children.

4. LAPTOP + Wi-fi. You can't be an online teacher without either of the two. duh :)
