VIPKID Trial Class No Shows | What to do?

If you've certified for Trial Classes you may have come across a 'NO SHOW'. Trial classes can be booked last minute by the sales team and sometimes they may not even have a student for class but you get booked and prepare accordingly. You will end up looking at the 'Nobody is here now' message after 5 minutes of waiting until you realize that no one is showing up. The big issue is that since Trial Classes are free for parents (3 free classes) often times they will book and then decide they don't have time or the child doesn't want to participate for whatever reason. You will be given 'half pay' if a student no shows and are required to wait at least 15 minutes before exiting the classroom. For Master Classes you need to wait the full 25 minutes before exiting the classroom.

All is not lost with a student no show. While you are waiting be sure to open another tab and refresh your screen in the teachers portal to check if the fireman has marked your class as finished or NS. If you see either of those in that time slot you are safe to exit after the wait period is over. Trial classes are a gift and curse because you can earn $$ with conversions and gain a new regular student. You can also feel cheated by preparing + waking up early just to play the waiting game. You can use this 'freebie' break to catch up on emails, surf the web in another window, practice your teaching in the classroom, or earn tokens on the hutong. If you are booked back to back then take some time to stretch or grab a snack. Your camera should be left open and you might want to type notes in the chat box regarding the no show situation.

I would still encourage you to certify for Trials regardless of these hangups because there are students who do show up and convert to becoming your regular student.
